In addition to the growing roster of PSX games, Sony is currently working on seven different direct download PSP games: full retail PSP titles designed to be downloaded and played on the unit through its internal memory, rather than a UMD. Providing this content by way of a kiosk or PC version of the PlayStation Store is a needed change that is finally on the horizon, and to help make the deal sweeter, Sony is apparently preparing a fresh load of new PSP and PSX games as exclusives for the Store. However, the potentially rich feature has been sadly underutilized, as those without a PS3 have had no access to the downloads. Last month, publishers like Atlus and Level 5 started amending their posts suggesting their PSP games would still be available beyond July 2, but it’s only now Sony has confirmed all digital-only PSP games are safe. One of the cooler features of the PS3's PlayStation Store is the PlayStation Classics section, where users can download original PlayStation games and then play them on the system itself or transfer them to the PSP. When the PS3 and Vita stores were granted a reprieve shortly afterwards, this list was reduced to just 35 digital-only PSP games because the support page wording previously implied those games would no longer be available from any store. When the store closures were first announced, it seemed like over 200 PS3, Vita and PSP games would be lost forever. While this confirmation only appears on the PlayStation UK support page, Sony has confirmed to Kotaku that the conditions apply to all regions. As players will also still be able to download their previously purchased PSP content, this means any games purchased through these two stores after July 2 can still be downloaded onto a PSP device through its Download List.

Players will still be able to purchase PSP games through the PS3 and Vita Stores.
